Instructors

Instructor Judy Oberlander

Judy Oberlander is a Vancouver based heritage consultant who is passionate about bringing people and places together to learn about how buildings and sites are transformed over time. Throughout her career in heritage conservation and cultural planning for local governments, educational institutions and community organizations she has enjoyed working in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Judy is dedicated to life-long learning; her Master's in Historic Preservation from Columbia University was followed by certificates in fundraising and board education.

Instructor Donald Luxton

Involved in the field of heritage and cultural resource management since 1983, Donald Luxton is a well-known consultant, advocate, educator and author, and has worked on numerous heritage projects and the development of museums and cultural facilities throughout western Canada. His interest in the conservation of architecture has led to his continuing involvement with many heritage societies. In 2007, he was elected to the College of Fellows of the RAIC, and received the British Columbia Heritage Award 2009, Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award from Heritage BC 2021 and Lifetime Achievement Award from CAHP 2022.
